Max Dread A record full of good tunes, none wearing out its welcome. They kick, punch, and swing, with lyrics exploring sadness and loss--amazingly, without being maudlin. Rick (Dang) on lead gtr, vocals, & writing is the front of this band. (I've never anyone play a guitar quite like Rick.) A huge part of what makes it work is Stiff Penalty (bass) & Eric Young (drums). They generously support this music with just what it needs. "Misery" wins as a fave for the big Neil Young and Crazy Horse-like punch. Favorite track: Misery.
